Summer '25 Mini Series
The Summer '25 Mini Series offers STEM, Photography or Geocaching workshops to enhance your summer program. Kids LAHF brings the workshop to you for three weeks. Each week's class runs for 1.5 or 2 hours and offers an introduction or review of terms used that day, a challenge to complete, and time to test your final project, and a reflection period. The workshops are designed to host a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 participants.
Design-It/Build-It (Sessions I, II, and III)
This 3-week mini series meets at your location and introduces youth to the engineering design method through a series of projects and challenges. Each week, the group is given a challenge or "problem," along with a unique set of materials. Working in pairs, groups or as individuals, youth will design, create and find a solution to complete each challenge. Themes for Summer '25 are Up! Up! and Away! and Let's Go! featuring flying projects and using different types of force to make vehicles go. A classroom to act as a Prep/Lab room is needed for both workshops. Access to an outdoor area is needed for Up! Up! and Away!
Picture-It (Sessions I, II, and III)
The Picture-It workshop offers youth an opportunity to learn basic digital photography concepts (using a point and shoot digital camera), create optical illusion photography (without using enhancement software), go on photo scavenger hunts and try their hand at storytelling through pictures and captions! Themes for Summer '25 are Nature Escapes and Optical Illusions.
Intro to Club Geo Trek (Session IV)
Club GEO Trek introduces the fun activity of collecting geocaches, and embarking on scavenger hunts, while tapping into your creative mind to solve little mysteries! Geocaching is a global scavenger hunt where people look for caches, or hidden stashes of objects. Geocachers use a GPS app that offers coordinates, clues and puzzles to solve, in order to locate caches and/or place their own caches. In this workshop, be ready to Learn And Have Fun developing your "geo-sense," solving codes and puzzles, learning basic map reading and compass skills, completing individual and team challenges and attempting to locate treasures and caches placed in the area!
